This free service is designed to help you get the most out of your medication while addressing any questions or concerns you might have.
The NHS New Medicine Service is available to patients in England who have been prescribed a new medication for any of the following long-term conditions:
- Angina
- Asthma
- Atrial fibrillation
- COPD
- Coronary heart disease
- Diabetes (type 2)
- DVT and related conditions
- Epilepsy
- Glaucoma
- Gout
- Heart failure
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Osteoporosis
- Parkinson's disease
- Stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
- Urinary incontinence

How To Access NHS New Medicine Service
The New Medicine Service involves three simple steps, ensuring you’re supported throughout the initial stages of your treatment.
Initial Consultation
After receiving your prescription, you’ll have a private chat with one of our pharmacists to discuss how your new medication works and how to take it correctly.
Follow-Up
After 7–14 days, we’ll check in with you to see how you’re getting on, answer any questions, and address any concerns you may have regarding your new medicine.
Final Review
Around 21–28 days after starting your medication, we’ll have another chat to review your progress and ensure you’re comfortable managing your treatment.
